In this piece we took Varenna as our starting point and utilized the ferry service in Bellagio, Lenno, and Tremezzo to find the most enjoyable activities to enjoy on the island of Lake Como.
Rick Steves and many other travel experts have said that Varenna is a great place to stay when visiting Lake Como. The town of a small size and beauty is located on a high cliff that overlooks Lake Como, with views of both sides of the lake, as well as Bellagio, the town. Bellagio. Another major reason that is causing its popularity to grow is its central location. The local places of interest comprise Castle Vechio, Villa Montero, Villa Caprissi, and the old town Varenna.
With a railway stop (Varenna Esino) and a ferry station in the town, visitors can hop over the lake to Bellagio, Lenno, Menaggio, Tremezzo, Como, and many other top spots on the lake quickly and easily. Combining the numerous amazing things to do in Varenna along with easy connection to other famous stops, Varenna has become a very well-known and coveted hidden gem.
We stayed at the beautiful Varenna guest House located just 5 minutes walk from the station. The ferry stop is five minutes away from the family-owned hotel. There’s a convenience shop and a wide selection of bars and eateries in walking distance and taxi service is also available should you need it. Certain apartments have beautiful lake views. Be aware the fact that Varenna Guest House doesn’t have air cooling, as is typical in this region. The weather during mid-May was fairly cool, nights were dry and comfy with the ceiling fan running.
